Titanium Beta 3 (also known as Grade 10 or Ti-11.5Mo-6Zr-4.5Sn) is a metastable beta alloy specifically designed for applications requiring superior cold formability and high strength after heat treatment.

It is used in highly specialized industries where weight savings and technical performance are critical.
1. Aerospace and Space Technology

Beta 3 foil is often chosen over standard Grade 5 because it can be cold-formed into complex shapes more easily and then aged to reach extremely high strength.

    Honeycomb Structures: Used to create the ultra-lightweight "honeycomb" cores for aircraft sandwich panels, providing noise abatement and structural stiffness for engine shrouds and airframes.

    Satellites & Spacecraft: Ideal for lightweight structural components and shielding where every gram of weight is critical.

    Hydraulic Tubing: Foil-wrapped or thin-walled tubing for high-pressure aerospace hydraulic systems.

2. Medical Devices

The "Extra Low Interstitial" nature of high-performance beta alloys like Beta 3 makes them highly biocompatible.

    Pacemaker & Neurostimulator Enclosures: Used for the thin, hermetically sealed casings of implantable devices because it is non-magnetic and resists body fluid corrosion.

    Electron Beam (E-Beam) Windows: This is a primary application for titanium beta foils. Because it is so thin and has a low atomic number, it allows electrons to pass through while maintaining a vacuum seal.
